Like the name suggests, the Dyson DC25 Animal is the perfect vacuum for pet owners. The powerful suction provided by the cyclone technology Dyson has innovated is more than enough to pull hairs off your carpet, furniture, blinds and anywhere else hairs will find their way into. I’ve tried other vacuums in the past that claim to be ideal for pet owners, but have always been disappointed by their ability to do a thorough job of cleaning up all the little hairs left behind by my dogs and therefore I wrote this Dyson DC25 Animal review to show you my thoughts about this product.
I have two small dogs with very short hair that I keep in the house. I have a roomba that I run every single day to try to keep up with the messes they leave behind. Even with my roomba running all week I was still able to pick up a huge amount of dust and hair with my Dyson animal. There’s really no comparison.
The Dyson DC25 Animal has a more compact design than the original Dyson ball vacuum. It also weighs considerably less, weighing in at only 16 pounds. I live in a two story home, so this is a real back saver for me when I have to vacuum the upstairs. This makes the Dyson Animal perfect for anyone who suffers from back or shoulder pain, or even arthritis.
Dyson DC25 Animal Assembly
Assembling my new Dyson DC25 Animal was a breeze. The main unit is already put together (the frame, ball etc). All you have to do to get up and running is to assemble the collection canister, attach the hose and put the air filters in. This only takes about 3 minutes and couldn’t be easier to do. Of course this vacuum comes with complete instructions to walk you through assembly.
Dyson DC25 Animal Features
The number one feature that makes Dyson vacuums famous is the ball that they ride on. Unlike traditional vacuums with small casters, the Dyson Animal glides along on a large ball. This makes it extremely easy to maneuver even in tight spaces. There are two small wheels on the back that are only there for support when you aren’t using the vacuum. These wheels pop up when you’re ready to use your Dyson, leaving only the ball to roll on. The ball makes the Dyson vacuum extremely easy to use. With the twist of a wrist you can literally turn on a dime.
Another great feature that I simply love is the fact that the extension hose, used for the various attachments, lifts out of the handle. Most vacuums that I’ve used in the past require that you disconnect the hose from the collection bin to connect it to attachments. Usually this means bending over and fumbling around with a connector. With the Dyson you simply lift the hose directly out of the handle, pop off the cap and use it directly to suck up dirt and debris, or connect your attachments for additional cleaning power. The hose attachment reaches about 10 feet, which is plenty long enough for me to clean my curtains, windows and stairs.
It’s the little things about this vacuum that really impress me the most. The multifunction tool include is unlike anything I’ve seen on any vacuum I’ve owned in the past. The multifunction tool will actually change from a brush to a flat edge nozzle by sliding the brush in or out. This makes vacuuming so much faster for me as I don’t need to switch attachments when I clean around the couch with the nozzle then switch to the brush to clean the fabric.
I also purchased the duster attachment for my Dyson. I’ve never had a vacuum that was so good at sucking up dust before. Most vacuums weren’t able to lift dust off my blinds and definitely couldn’t remove dust from hard to reach places like cleaning a woven basket. The thing I like the most about the dusting attachment is that it has a soft fabric surface inside that won’t scratch the things you’re trying to dust.
I also found the air filter system extremely easy to use. There’s a primary filter that’s used to filter the air before it goes into the motor. This filter can easily be removed from a compartment in the ball and then cleaned under running water in just a few seconds. There’s also a secondary HEPA filter that’s used to filter the air that leaves the motor. This ensures that all the allergens contained in the dust and debris you vacuum up will be trapped. They even say the air that comes out of your vacuum is something like 400 times cleaner than the air that goes in. I have occasional allergies, so this feature is extremely important to me.
Conclusion
The Dyson DC25 Animal truly makes cleaning fun. It has cut my cleaning time in half compared to the old “disposable vacuums” I used to buy. It’s remained as powerful as the first day I used it, unlike other vacuums. This is one vacuum you must try for yourself to truly appreciate. It’s definitely worth every penny I paid for it, and then some. I hope my Dyson DC25 Animal review could help you to make a decision for yourself about your new vacuum cleaner.
